Patapon 3 for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a rhythm-based action role-playing game where drumbeats command a tribe of warriors in battle.
After opening a mysterious box, the Patapon tribe is turned into stone by ancient evil forces. Awakened by the mystical Silver Hoshipon, you take on the role of a powerful Uberhero to break the curse, defeat the Seven Archfiends, and restore your comrades.
Unlike previous entries that focused on managing large armies, Patapon 3 shifts the focus to a smaller squad led by a customizable Uberhero. Players press face buttons in time with a four-beat rhythm to march, attack, defend, and unleash special abilities. The game introduces deeper role-playing elements, including distinct character classes, skill trees, equipment upgrades, and cooperative or competitive multiplayer quests.
