Story:
Set 20 years after the events of the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, Shinnok threatens Earthrealm. A new generation of fighters, including Cassie Cage (daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade), must join forces with returning veterans to stop him.
Gameplay:
Building upon the 2011 reboot's mechanics, *Mortal Kombat X* introduces character variations (three per character), each with unique moves and weapons. The environment can be used strategically, and the three-tiered energy meter enables X-Ray moves, EX moves, and combo breakers. Fatalities return, alongside Brutalities (from *Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3*) and new finishers like Quitalities and Faction Kills.
Game Modes:
- Story Mode
- King of the Hill
- Ranked Matches
- Survivor
- Test Your Luck
- Living Towers (constantly changing challenges)
- Faction Wars (persistent online mode with cross-platform competition)
- Krypt (first-person dungeon crawling to unlock content)
Characters
Fight with a roster of 24 characters, including returning favorites like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden, and newcomers like Cassie Cage, Kotal Kahn, and D'Vorah. Additional characters are available via DLC.
Prepare for intense kombat and unleash devastating fatalities in Mortal Kombat X!
