The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers for PlayStation 2 is an action beat 'em up game based on the first two films of the movie trilogy.
Taking control of Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli, players fight against the forces of the Dark Lord Sauron to protect the Ring of Power and restore peace to Middle-earth. Levels recreate key battles from the films, from the confrontation on Weathertop and the Mines of Moria to the plains of Rohan and the defense of Helm's Deep, linked by cutscenes combining film footage and in-game rendering.
Players battle hordes of orcs, goblins, and bosses like the Watcher in the Water and Lurtz using varied attack and parry combinations. Performing diverse combos without taking damage awards more experience points at the end of each level, which are used to unlock character-specific moves, health upgrades, and stronger attacks. Completing missions and leveling up also unlocks interviews with the cast and crew.
